Message from the Chairman of the Foundation

We believe in the hospital expansion!

The year 2012 marks the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Hawkesbury & District General Hospital Foundation. On behalf of the members of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to thank the generous donors, sponsors and volunteers who have contributed to our cause over the years. Our Foundation was created in 1987 to support the development of the hospital. Since then, medical equipment was acquired which improved the specialized care provided locally.

Today, the Foundation still faces daunting challenges, as it did twenty-five years ago, and our hospital has numerous needs. Among the most urgent, we must mention the lack of space. Over the years the demand for specialized care and the growing needs within the population have contributed in creating this situation. On July 11, 2011, the Honourable Deb Matthews, Ontario’s Minister of Health and Long Term Care, announced the approval of the expansion project. This expansion will allow our hospital to better meet the growing needs of the community.

More than ever, the members of the Foundation Board of Directors believe in the merit of this project. Our goal is to reach our Major Campaign objective of $7 million dollars by the end of this coming year.

To reach such an objective in its 25th year, what a great achievement that would be for our generous donors, sponsors and volunteers and what a great reason to celebrate! We encourage members of the public to intensify their efforts and generosity and to support the hospital Foundation. We offer a variety of opportunities and ways to contribute. We encourage you to learn more about them.

More than ever, WE BELIEVE in the Hawkesbury & District General Hospital expansion.

Michel Laferrière, Chairman
